Meter Replacement

If you live in the KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations service area (click here to determine which area you live in), you’ll soon be receiving a new electric meter. We regularly upgrade our metering infrastructure to ensure consistent, reliable service, in keeping with industry standards.

What you need to know: 

  • A month prior to installation you’ll receive a postcard detailing the meter exchange. 
  • You don’t need to be present for the upgrade. However, there will be a very brief service interruption when the new meter is installed, so you may need to reprogram digital clocks or other electronic devices.  
  • Once the exchange has taken place, a door hanger will be left on the door with who to contact for additional information or questions.
