Contractor Safety Requirements

Please review the qualification and documentation requirements for all KCP&L contractors.

Qualification Requirements

Contractors who perform field service work activities such as construction, plant maintenance, inspections and testing are subject to annual qualification and documentation requirements. Certain service providers are also subject to qualification as determined by the safety department.

Qualification and safety documentation requirements are standardized and consolidated between all KCP&L divisions. Separate documentation and qualification requirements are no longer required for all three KCP&L business units.

Documentation Requirements

Annual Safety Pre-Qualification Document and OSHA Logs
Active contractors will receive a notification in the first quarter of each year to complete the safety pre-qualification document. This must be submitted with copies of the previous year OSHA 300 and 300A logs. Failure to submit required documentation will result in disqualification until documentation is received. Contractors will be notified if they need to complete the safety documentation prior to KCP&L awarding bids or issuance of purchase orders.
