LED Streetlight Pilot Program

KCP&L has partnered with Black & McDonald to conduct a pilot program to evaluate the effectiveness of LED* streetlights in five communities throughout our service area.

• *LED (light emitting diode) streetlights are a relatively new type of streetlight.
• We have replaced 44 existing High Pressure Sodium streetlight fixtures with LED fixtures.
• These 44 LED fixtures in the pilot program are similar to the High Pressure Sodium streetlights we currently use to light municipal streets throughout our service territory.
