Preserving Our Environment

Kansas City Power & Light is aware of the consequences generating power can have on our air, water and the many types of life that depend on both. Because of this, we helped pioneer efforts to reduce the environmental impact of electric generation.

Our current broad-based approach to environmental issues includes:

• An environmental policy that demonstrates our commitment to being responsible stewards of our natural world;
• Protecting and improving air quality in the communities we serve;
• Recycling the byproducts of our generation and transmission activities, as well as using recycled materials within our company;
• Providing havens for birds, fish and animals native to our area;
• Restoring natural habitats in our own communities and around the world;
• Environmental projects dating back to 1958; and
• Recognition for our efforts locally and nationally.
