One-Time Online Payment

  • Get electronic statements sent to your email to reduce paper waste.
  • Get email or text message reminders when your bill is due.
  • Pay with Visa, MasterCard, debit/ATM card or checking. Checks post the same day by 2:30 p.m. on business days or the next business day after 2:30 p.m. Credit, debit and ATM cards post within 1-2 business days.

Auto Pay

*Recurring credit card payments are not available for customers in the Greater Missouri Operations service area. These customers may set up a recurring payment with a debit/ATM card or check.


By Text Message

Text Messaging
  • Make payments, get notifications, set reminders and receive confirmations by text message on your mobile phone.
  • Update your preferences online at any time. Or stop all messages by texting STOP to 68731. 
  • Text HELP to 68731 at any time for more information or if you have questions. 
  • Pay with checking. Checks post the same day by 2:30 p.m. on business days or the next business day after 2:30 p.m.

By Phone

  • Pay your bill easily with a phone call to our automated payment line.
  • Pay with Visa, MasterCard, debit/ATM card or checking. Checks post the same day by 2:30 p.m. on business days or the next business day after 2:30 p.m. Credit, debit and ATM cards post within 1-2 business days.
  • If you pay by check, have your KCP&L account number and checkbook available, then follow the simple voice prompts. If you pay by Visa, MasterCard or debit/ATM card, have your KCP&L account number and card number available. The system will connect you to Western Union for processing.
  • Receive a confirmation number.
The services may not be used by the following persons or entities (each a “Prohibited User”): (a) aggregators, submitting multiple payments on behalf of multiple customers; (b) online bill payment providers or processors, submitting payments first authorized by a consumer through an internet accessible, on-line bill payment website; or (c) any person submitting a payment through any automated data entry process such as “screen scraping,” “data scraping,” “web scraping” or any other automated or “batch processing” entry of data that does not require action by a human end user to complete a payment authorization, unless specifically authorized by KCP&L.  


By Mail

  • Mail your payment using your KCP&L return envelope and be sure to include your bill stub for accurate and timely processing.
  • Pay with check or money order. Posts within 3-5 days after receipt.

  • There may be businesses in your area that offer to accept payments, but KCP&L can only guarantee your payment and validate your receipt number at an authorized pay location.
  • Some authorized pay locations in Missouri add a fee for processing your payment, but never more than $1.

  • Save trees and reduce greenhouse emissions by eliminating paper billing.
  • Get an email notice when a new bill is produced and when it’s due.
  • Sign up for online account access to get started. Already enrolled? Log in here.


Budget Billing

Budget Billing
  • Budget monthly payments by evening out seasonal billing highs and lows. You must have at least 12 months of billing history at your current address to participate in this program.
  • Your Monthly Budget Billing Amount is the average of your bills and account balance for the last 12 months. It’s recalculated annually so it’s based on your account balance and historical usage habits, plus any rate changes.
