Why Your Bill May Vary

Your electric bill amount will vary from month to month and from season to season. Here are some reasons why:

  • Changes of season - Air conditioners, fans and refrigerators run longer and work harder during the hot summer months.
  • Changes in household size - Moving to a larger home, adding a child or house guests will increase your electrical needs.
  • Adding electrical equipment - With each purchase of additional TVs, DVDs, PCs, hot tubs or swimming pools, your electrical use will increase.
  • Home projects - Tools and equipment used to build a new deck or remodel your home will use added energy.
  • Seasonal rates - The cost to provide electricity is highest during the four-month summer season (mid-May through mid-September), so prices are slightly higher as well.

You can level out monthly and seasonal billing differences with Budget Billing.
