New York, NY (Nov. 28, 2012) – Last night, KCP&L was recognized for the sixth time in a row by PA Consulting Group as the recipient of the 2012 ReliabilityOne™ Award in the Plains Region. The ReliabilityOne™ Award is given annually to the utilities that have achieved outstanding reliability performance and have excelled in delivering reliable electric service to their customers.
“Despite having one of the hottest summers on record, our employees were and continue to be committed to providing safe and reliable power for all of our customers,” said Duane Anstaett, KCP&L vice president of Delivery. “It’s that spirit and dedication that has helped us win this award six years in a row.”
In addition to providing reliable service for its own service territory, KCP&L has been called on several times to assist others because of its award winning storm restoration practices. This includes assisting Duke Energy in Cincinnati, Ohio this summer and most recently assisting several utilities in the Northeast following Hurricane Sandy.
All utilities operating electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for consideration for the ReliabilityOneTM Award. There are a total of five regional awards including Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Plains and West. The selection of provisional recipients is based primarily on system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages. After provisional recipients are selected, each company undergoes an on-site certification process, which provides an independent review and confirmation of the policies, processes and systems used to collect, analyze and report a company's reliability results.
“ReliabilityOne™ Award winners are characterized by their total commitment to service quality”, said Jeff Lewis, PA Consulting Group’s ReliabilityOne™ Program Director. “KCP&L demonstrates its’ commitment to electric reliability every day from the senior leadership to the field crews and customer service representatives. To be the best in this industry, the entire organization must focus, align, and motivate around reliability.”
