KCP&L VPs of IT and Regulatory Announced

Charles King and Darrin Ives promoted to expanded roles in IT and Regulatory
Kansas City, Mo. (August 6, 2013) — Kansas City Power & Light Company (KCP&L), a wholly owned subsidiary of Great Plains Energy Incorporated (NYSE: GXP), today announced two executive promotions. Charles King, senior director – Information Technology for the company, has been promoted to vice president – Information Technology; and Darrin Ives, senior director – Regulatory has been promoted to vice president – Regulatory Affairs.

Charles King

King joined the company in 2011 to provide additional management depth and leadership in the Information Technology (IT) division. He has successfully led efforts to improve IT governance, security and compliance; upgrade KCP&L’s financial and supply chain systems; and implement KCP&L’s mobile work management system and SmartGrid technology project. 
“Charles has quickly earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues in the IT division, on the leadership team and among management across the company due to his ability to partner with operations and support functions to prioritize and move IT projects forward,” said Terry Bassham, president and chief executive officer of KCP&L. “Our IT function is critical to everything we do at KCP&L, and we are confident in Charles’ ability to lead our company through the next round of important IT implementations and upgrades.” 
King holds a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas and a B.S.in Mathematics from Harding University.

Darrin Ives

In his new role, Ives will assume responsibility for leading KCP&L’s regulatory strategy. With nearly 17 years of service with the company, Ives’s strong industry and financial knowledge has been instrumental in ensuring balanced outcomes in regulatory matters for both customers and the company.
“Since joining the company in 1996, Darrin has shown tremendous ability in both his accounting and regulatory work,” said Terry Bassham, president and chief executive officer of KCP&L. “Ives will continue to propel the company forward in his new position as vice president by managing the complex state and federal landscape that governs the electric power industry.” 
Ives holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Kansas State University, MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Kansas and Missouri.
