KCP&L Wins the 2014 ReliabilityOne™ Award for Outstanding Reliability Performance in the Plains Region for the eighth year in a row
Award recognizes most reliable electric utilities nationwide

New York, NY – (November 25, 2014) KCP&L was recently recognized by PA Consulting Group, Inc. as the recipient of the 2014 ReliabilityOne™ Award for Outstanding Reliability Performance in the Plains Region. The ReliabilityOne™ Award is given annually to the utilities that have achieved outstanding reliability performance, and have excelled in delivering the most reliable electric service to their customers.

"Providing safe and reliable power for all of our customers remains the top priority for our employees," said Duane Anstaett, KCP&L vice president of Delivery. "It's that hard work and devotion over many years that has helped KCP&L win this award eight years in a row."

Delivering reliable electric service is one of the foundations of KCP&L's operating strategy. The company takes several steps to keep infrastructure in good condition, including identifying and replacing aging infrastructure. KCP&L also constantly monitors the transmission and distribution system so issues can be identified and addressed quickly, which results in fewer outages and reduced response time when outages do occur.

All utilities operating electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for consideration for the ReliabilityOne™ Award. There are a total of six regional awards including Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Plains, West, and Southeast. The selection of provisional recipients is based primarily on system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages. After provisional recipients are selected, each company undergoes an on-site certification process which provides an independent review and confirmation of the policies, processes and systems used to collect, analyze and report a company's reliability results.

"ReliabilityOne™ Award winners have a common thread: customers come first," said Jeff Lewis, PA Consulting Group's ReliabilityOne™ Program Director. "KCP&L has kept its customers' needs at the forefront, hinging its business success on maintaining the highest level of reliability."
